Things to do

Situated as it is, at the foot of the Sierra Tramuntana mountains which stretch the whole length of the island, Alaro is ideal for the keen walker, the scenery is truly spectacular and for cyclists the lanes along the Sierras are dedicated for this activity with very little motor traffic.

Bird watchers will not be disappointed, residents include Hoopoes, Black Vultures, Leonora’s Falcons, Scops Owls and our house speciality Stone Curlews which you will not fail to hear calling to one another.

The sea is half an hour away and you have a choice of the fascinating town of Soller and its natural harbour surrounded by high mountains or Puerto Pollensa with its huge protected bay and safe swimming.

Alaro

Alaro

The village has a couple of small supermarkets and a collection of other small shops, bars and restaurants. Market day is Saturday.

Eating out is all part of the fun in Mallorca. There are several restaurants in Alaro itself, Can Xim in the main square is nice and you can eat al fresco by the pool.

Round about there is a lot to choose from, the classiest being the famous Reads hotel, just 10 minutes away.
